Ho[me].Ho[use] November 2016
Rope, Hand Embroidery, Ink, Lamp, Wooden Furniture
A residency with 12 artists, over 2weeks making work in response to a Victorian house in Cardiff. Looking at ideas of identity, memory and trace. My work responded to the architecture of the house and the traces left behind. Peeling back the layers and traces within the house, memories where pieced together within the abstracted image of a 'web' stretching across the room.
Parallel to this, is question "what is the difference in the meaning of house and the meaning of home?"
What changes when house is seen as the architecture of home, the latter unable to exist without the other. What happens if we only have a house and not a home? Does a home always have to be a house...
Ideas of performance and the body in space is always something that I am intrigued by; my installations aim to manipulate the audience in how they experience the work.
Event: house M.A.D.E residency (with Cardiff M.A.D.E)
Venue: Trade St. Cardiff

Benjamin #2 September 2016
Netting, Cotton Calico, Digital Print, Hand Embroidery, Rope
Benjamin #2 uses fabrics to tell the narrative of an adoptee, addressing the formation of identity. Drawing on my personal struggles in defining myself, Benjamin #2 communicates the precarious balance between our external safety net (perhaps: family, friends, community) while the internal mess and struggle of piecing together our identity continues after an experience of displacement.
Event: From The Third Floor, MFA Degree show
Venue: Cardiff Metropolitan, Cardiff School of Art and Design

"Shirt" May 2016
Denim Shirt, Digital Stitch, Hand Embroidery, Satin Rose Petals
Shirt is an autobiographical piece inspired by Gill Scott-Heron’s spoken-word piece: Pieces of a Man. Drawn to the idea of memories acting as patches of our lives that we piece together and hold onto to form our individual identities. Using my past experiences I have looked at how identity is formed through our relationships, memories and experiences. Seeing clothing as a second skin to our identities the shirt becomes the body in which embed are the patches and stitching’s of memories and life’s experiences holding it together.

"Series of Postcard Works" April 2016
Fabric, Embroidery thread
These are a series of postcard sized works I created in response to the theme of 'borders'.
Lets Embrace - Considering borders and identity I have responded in a more playful way. In crises like war, humanity gets forgotten. Lets but it at the forefront of our mind – we are all human anyway…
Profile - Is this all there is to us? I see our skin as the borders of our identity, the layer that houses who we are.
and Quote of the Day.
Beyond Borders was an exhibition held by The Gap Arts in Birmingham. This event was to raise awareness and money for the Syrian refugees in Birmingham. For more information on the project and artists involved visit their website: www.thegapartsproject.co.uk
